| Kooperationsstelle Hamburg |
The Kooperationsstelle Hamburg is a department of the Ministry of Science and Research of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Since the establishment in 1987 its main work area is the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) with topics such as:
-
Comprehensive descriptions of the German system of OSH
-
Development of voluntary agreements and proposals for new regulations
-
Production of information products: booklets and newsletters
-
Initiation and organisation of regional campaigns (cutting fluids and organic solvents)
-
Organisation of seminars and special technical workshops
-
Large national and international projects on substitution of dangerous chemicals in the printing, construction and metal industry.
-
In the previous ten years, the Kooperationsstelle Hamburg has conducted seven major international projects dealing with health hazards and work organisation in different industries, professions and countries; and a number of smaller projects and service contracts for the EU and national organisations. The Kooperationsstelle Hamburg was a partner in the EU-OSH Agency’s Topic Centre on Dangerous Substances (1999 to 2001) and in the TC Good Practice, Systems and Programmes (from 2002 to 2004). The Kooperationsstelle is now a member of the consortium of the TC Work Environment from 2005 to 2008 and supplies major contributions to the Dangerous Substance information pages on the website of EU-OSHA.
The Kooperationsstelle Hamburg is - as an independent department - certified under the quality management system DIN EN ISO 9001:2000.
The main role of the Kooperationsstelle Hamburg within the NanoCap project will be twofold: to identify implications of nanotechnology on OSH and to inform trade unions in Germany on this subject. The contacts to trade unions are long-standing and stable, since the Kooperationsstelle was founded by the trade unions and run by them from 1982 to 1987. In nearly all of its OSH activities (projects, seminars etc), the Kooperationsstelle has involved trade unions. This involvement of trade unions is one of the official aims of the Kooperationsstelle as a public organisation. The Kooperationsstelle will use the existing channels to both the head office and the regional offices of the trade unions. The members will be addressed via seminars and trade union publications as “Gute Arbeit”, “PUBLIK”, “Die Mitbestimmung” etc.
